Does your singing voice sound like you? Others know who you are when they hear you talk, right? Do they recognize your singing voice as well? If not, keep reading.
The human voice is the perfect musical instrument. However, most of us have some very strange habits around our singing. These habits, in an effort to sound better, actually stop your natural voice from being heard. Using muscles that aren’t meant to be used to sing stops the good vibrations.
Imagine picking up a heavy box from the floor using just lower back muscles. Ouch! Now imagine using legs and arms to hoist the box. Easy! It’s the same with singing.
We are built to sing. So ask yourself, “What if I talked like I sing?”
Sing Like You Speak® technique uses the natural ease and power of the speaking voice to ‘teach’ you how to sing just as easily and naturally.
Watch the video for a demo. As you will see in this video, talking like you sing can have some pretty funky results! Enjoy.

Hey hey welcome to my YouTube channel:
Sing Like You Speak™. I’m Sally Morgan and I developed this contemporary vocal technique Sing Like You Speak. And I developed the technique because we are so very very comfortable with our speaking voices and then we go to sing and it’s like “oh now what do I do?” And we do all these weird things to produce a singing sound when all we have to do is imitate how we use our speaking voice and that is the best way to use your singing voice. Now of course it takes a lot of training that’s why all these YouTube videos.
But I have a question for you and that is: what if you talked like you sing? What I’m going to do is to demonstrate, I went to YouTube and I looked up different people covering Adele’s Skyfall. What I’m gonna do is imitate those voices and show you what that person would sound like if they spoke like they sang Skyfall.
It’ll be very clear in a minute when I do it. Alright so you all know this it’s a wonderful song. I’ll do it as me first.
♫Let the sky fall when it crumbles we will stand tall and face it all together let this♫
Okay, so what I heard on YouTube things like this:
♫Let the sky fall when it crumbles you will stand tall and face it all♫
So if I were to talk that way that’s how I would sound. Now I’m sure this person does not talk that way. No not at all. Here’s another one that I heard
♫Let this sky fall it crumbles we will stand tall♫
yeah yep yuk yuk yuk yuk! That’s all right in the throat isn’t it tough. I’m gonna talk like that that’s what I would sound like “hey you want to go out get a glass of wine?” Yeah that’s that’s what it would be like.
So that person singing that way is so far away from their natural speaking when they get to the singing and that’s what happens with us, is that the brain says “okay yeah you want to sing this okay we got to do something totally weird and extraordinary to make a singing sound” when that is absolutely not true.
♫Let the sky fall when it crumbles we will stand tall♫
And this is how I use it:
♫Let the sky fall when it crumbles we will stand tall♫
And that is healthy, clear, talking right at you singing. And that’s what you find with Sing Like You Speak™. I would love to have you join me on singlikeyouspeak.com where there are over a hundred lessons to teach you how to Sing Like You Speak™. So that when someone asks you to speak like you sing it just sounds like you. Wouldn’t that be a cool thing? Yeah! So I’ll see you on singlikeyouspeak.com
