I’m here to tell you about a brilliant new web platform, Hookist.com. You all know that the ‘hook’ of a song is the most memorable. Well, a Hookist is someone who writes successful hooks.
Recently I interviewed Hookist.com CEO and co-founder, Meredith Collins (scroll down to watch the interview) who describes it as…
Hookist is a collaborative songwriting platform and music social network where fans, music lovers and aspiring artists get to write original songs with their favorite artists as a part of a whole community devoted to making, sharing and discovering new music.
“A glorious new use of the web to create art with great music artists” ~ Sonic Scoop
Hookist offers music lovers and aspiring artists exclusive insight into the creative process of music’s most respected artists. It’s a unique opportunity to get kudos and feedback (and sometimes co-writes!) from industry insiders, while growing your own fan base and promoting your own music!
The current project is writing with Peter Frampton‘s long-time opener, Nashville local, Eric Stuart, to raise money for their friend and guitarist, Phil Nix as he battles cancer. The theme is Standing Together and it’s inspiring!
We’ve also written with luminaries like:
- legendary songwriter, Paul Williams for Facing Addiction (watch him lead 10,000 in singalong!)
- 3x Grammy nominee, Brad Roberts of Crash Test Dummies
- Grammy nominated songwriter & guitar legend, Gary Lucas (Jeff Buckley, God & Monsters)
- Grammy nom, Richie Supa (Aerosmith)
- Bassist & musical director, Kasim Sulton (Todd Rundgren’s Utopia, MeatLoaf, Hall & Oates)
- Juno winners, The Bros Landreth
We recently wrote a song with the great Grace McLean that she premiered at Lincoln Center as part of the closing night ceremonies of the historic American Songbook Series! The song was about the recent discovery of gravitational waves in outer space that proved Einstein’s theory – so you never know what we’ll be doing next at Hookist!

Many thanks to Meredith and Hookist.com. Make sure you check out Hookist.com!
